Be more active in the community, volunteer, pick up rubbish. Let someone go before you in the grocery line. Again, something that helped me to feel more вЂinvolvedвЂ™ and hold more purpose was the little things- when youвЂ™re driving, let that person in the gap in front of you. Even something as simple as choosing to go for a walk- who knows what you might find, who you might happen to start a conversation with or them with you.ДЄlso, there is always someone who needs you, even if itвЂ™s in the most subtle or even unknown way. Say вЂyesвЂ™ more and be more open to things. The second thing, is the complete opposite- push that comfort zone. I find two of the biggest things that helped me, was learning to be comfortable when IвЂ™m on my own and embracing the times when I actually need that as opposed to resenting it. But by the same token, with some relationships, it got to a point where I actually did get left behind and certain people grew past me and built other, stronger relationship, all because I chose not to grow with them. Stress and depression and anxiety made me push people away or seperate myself from them, but then IвЂ™d feel left out and convince myself it was their fault. I have found in my experiences of feeling lonely, a lot of the time I was my own worst enemy. Keep moving forward and never give up on yourself. Does it take root from your childhood? I donвЂ™t quite know your story but I hope this helps. Take some time for yourself and reflect on why you feel mentally and emotionally isolated. And when youвЂ™re confident people will be easier to talk to and connect with. Work on yourself every day and reaching the goals that you set for yourself will give you confidence. Anxiety for me personally made me isolate myself out of the fear that IвЂ™d be somehow rejected or dismissed as an outsider from my people. Be comfortable with people and donвЂ™t be anxious. You have strangers that youвЂ™ve never met that have a whole story of love, loss, beauty, and pain. ItвЂ™s also important to realize that youвЂ™re not alone on this earth. Even just one quality friend makes the world of a difference when it comes to being lonely. You donвЂ™t need a bunch of friends either. It took way too long for me to learn that people wonвЂ™t always come to you, you have to reach out and be genuinely interested in the person youвЂ™re talking to and friendships take consistent effort and work. the best thing you can do is put yourself out there.
